Abstract
One of the main challenges facing social assessors is to understand how communities may be impacted by a particular policy or proposal, and how they may respond to this change. This article examines the application of repertory grid analysis within a community-based social assessment in the north-east region of Victoria, Australia. The method provided important information about what the workshop participants perceived as the main dimensions of community and the linkages with other communities in the region. There is a definite need to supplement the findings of the analysis with other data such as local reports and interviews with key people. © 1999 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
