Abstract

The study presents a floristic survey for the species of Asteraceae recorded in the cangas of Serra dos Carajás, Pará state. Detalied descriptions, identification keys, illustrations, geographical distribution and morphological comments are provided for all species, as well comments on the habitat. Thirty four species were inventoried in the study area, of which Lepidaploa paraensis, Cavalcantia glomerata, Parapiqueria cavalcantei and Monogereion carajensis, are considered endemic to the ironstone outcrops of this mountain range, Parapiqueria and Monogereion are monotypic genera.
