Abstract

Objectives: To examine the role of Energy Management Systems (EMS) in promoting corporate sustainability by optimizing energy use, reducing operational costs, and minimizing environmental impact. To analyze the technological advances, such as IoT and AI, that enhance energy efficiency within EMS. To explore the advantages and shortcomings of EMS and discuss international standards like ISO 50001 in the context of sustainable energy management.   Methods: Reviewing the role of EMS in streamlining sustainable business practices, with a focus on energy conservation, renewable energy integration, and compliance with global energy regulations. Analyzing real-world industry examples to highlight the application and impact of EMS. Discussing technological advancements, such as IoT and AI, that contribute to improving energy efficiency within EMS. Reviewing international standards (e.g., ISO 50001) in relation to sustainable energy management.   Results: EMS provides several benefits to businesses, including: Optimizing resource use, Integrating renewable energy, Ensuring compliance with global energy regulations, Reducing operational expenditure and environmental impact, Technological advances such as IoT and AI enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of EMS, Despite high implementation costs and technological complexities, businesses that adopt EMS can achieve long-term sustainability and improve economic viability.   Conclusion: EMS plays a crucial role in advancing corporate sustainability, helping businesses reduce environmental impact while maintaining economic viability. The future trends in EMS suggest continued advancements in technology and increasing adoption as businesses seek to meet sustainability goals and regulatory standards. Overcoming implementation challenges will be key to maximizing the potential of EMS in supporting long-term corporate sustainability.
