Abstract

The state of beach erosion of the southern unit of the Romanian Black Sea shore is described with explanation of its mechanism. Beaches in the northern part of the study area are composed of terrigenous sand from the Danube, while the sediment in the southern beaches is made of shell fragments. Shoreline changes over years have been well reproduced with the one-line model and the net sediment transport rate is evaluated at several coastal units. © 2007 World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte.
