Abstract

This paper provides a review of literature published in 1995 on the subject of Substratum-associated microbiota. Topics covered include: Methods; and, Ecology - colonization and community development, activity of attached or sediment-associated bacteria, patterns and processes within biofilms, interactions between nutrients and microbenthos, photosynthesis and effects of irradiance, herbivory and predation, ecological and taxonomic surveys, distribution and ecology of aquatic fungi, and micellaneous.
