Abstract
The isothermal structural properties, equation of state, and vibrational dynamics of Dihydrazinium 5,5'-azotetrazolate dihydrate (HAT) were studied under high-pressure using synchrotron X-ray diffraction and optical Infrared microspectroscopy. X-ray diffraction characterization revealed the existence of a phase transition near 10.3 GPa from the P2/c to the P2 space group. Several spectral modifications associated with this transition, such as mode splitting and intensity changes were observed in the Infrared spectroscopic measurements, giving insight into the molecular structure of the high-pressure phase. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.
