Abstract
Empirical equations have been developed to predict the gross and the net heats of combustion of organosilicon compounds based on the atomic contribution method. The average absolute percent error is 1.4% approx. 1.5% for the predictions. In addition, an empirical equation has been developed to predict the lower flammability limits of organic and organosilicon compounds from the net heats of combustion. The standard error of estimate and the average absolute percent error for predicting the lower flammability limits of organic and organosilicon compounds are 0.22 vol% and 9.3%, respectively.
