Abstract
The Borneo Vortex incident is a synoptic-scale disturbance which occurs when the Asian monsoon is active. The Borneo Vortex occurs due to the interaction of the Asian monsoon winds with southeastern winds in the northwestern region of Kalimantan, thus forming eddies which can increase rainfall. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of Borneo Vortex on the dynamics of sea surface temperature in the Java Sea. The data used in this study were the Reanalysis ERA Interim ECMWF (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast) consisting of the u and v wind components, relative vortices, divergences, and specific humidity. The method used was by finding the composite value of each parameter during the Borneo Vortex incident. The results of the study showed an Identification that most Borneo Vortex incidents were in December, and due to the presence of Borneo Vortex, there were significant changes in vorticity, divergence, moisture transport, rainfall, and SST.
