Abstract

In order to study the wear of vehicle treads with resilient wheels and rails of running resilient wheels, a prediction model of wheel and rail wear was established based on Archard wear model. The wear situations of wheel treads and rails were analyzed under different track irregularity conditions and curve radius conditions. Comparing and analyzing the resilient wheels and rigid wheels the results show that, the resilient wheels have better wear reduction effectiveness when the track is poor. The wear reduction effectiveness of resilient wheels on the track with smaller curve radius is smaller. With the increasing of curve radius, the wear reduction effectiveness of resilient wheels is obvious. Compared with running rigid wheels, the maximum cumulative wear of rails is reduced by 33% when running resilient wheels. The resilient wheels may reduce the wear of curved rails to some extents.
