Abstract

Case:A 36-year-old woman developed clawing deformity of her lesser toes after intramedullary fixation of a right distal diaphyseal tibia fracture after a motorcycle collision. The patient was found to have adhesions of the flexor digitorum longus (FDL) tendon to the posterior tibialis tendon and the posterior aspect of the tibia and underwent surgical lysis of adhesions. There was resolution of symptoms at 1 year.Conclusion:This case highlights a complication after tibial fracture healing of a rare variant of checkrein deformity with isolated FDL involvement. This adds to our understanding of postoperative tibial fracture complication profile and subsequent management.
