Abstract
Outlines the thoery of the state factor model of ecosystems. In this model, an ecosystem is described by a series of variables (state factors) such as climate, organisms, and time (e.g. since disturbance). This model helps methodologically because it aids experimental design and allows for comparison between different systems.
