Abstract

Nano-composite ceramic composing of (La0.66Gd0.34)2Zr2O7 (LGZ) and (Zr0.76Gd0.24)O1.88 (GSZ) phases is synthesized form in-situ reaction and is consolidated by spark plasma sintering. It has a thermal conductivity about 20 and 35% lower than that of single phase LGZ and GSZ materials, respectively. The lower thermal conductivity is attributed to the thermal resistance effect of phase boundary.
