Abstract
We have shown that an assay for total and IgA-conjugated α1m can be performed by using simultaneously applied, differently labeled secondary antibodies, and that such an assay shows promise for clinical utility as a potential aid in monitoring renal dysfunction. However, antigen concentration may be affected by a variety of pathological factors, and the relative clinical utility of the assay remains to be elucidated in detail. This assay methodology may prove useful for quantifying other free and bound antigens of interest.
