Abstract
In this article we present the principal results of a doctoral thesis on the incidence of conditions of schooling in the construction of academic careers. The object of study was the school careers of students at reentry schools in Buenos Aires. After a brief overview of the conceptual perspective and definition of the problem, we present the main findings of the investigation: statistical data are analyzed to characterize career tendencies in the school-age population in Buenos Aires; then we identify particularities in the careers of an intentional sample of reentry school students. Finally, we offer some reflections and points of debate raised by the investigation and outline projections to guarantee the right to education for all adolescents and young adults.
