Abstract
Four biotypes differing at the Gli‐A1 and Gli‐A2 loci coding for gliadins, and various “null” mutants at these loci in the common wheat cv Saratovskaya 29, were studied by two‐dimensional electrophoresis A‐PAGE × SDS‐PAGE. Four to ten gliadin polypeptides were found to be controlled by each Gli locus. Two different alleles at the Gli‐D1 locus, which could not he distinguished in one‐dimensional gels, were observed after A‐PAGE × SDS‐PAGE. Some polypeptides in the two‐dimensional map could not be attributed to any Gli‐1 or Gli‐2 locus. The possibility that these polypeptides are the product of additional, gliadin‐encoding genes is discussed. Copyright © 1994, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
