Abstract

Pediatric schizophrenia is a chronic, remitting illness that affects children and adolescents in a variety of ways. Schizophrenia adversely affects the developmental trajectory, academic functioning, and self-esteem of children. During the last decade, numerous strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder. This chapter briefly reviews the current status of our knowledge.
