Abstract
Health communication and the use of communication strategies aim to inform and to influence general population choices regarding healthcare and quality of life choices. Obesity and overweight status are major contributors to many preventable causes of death. Higher body weight is associated with more death rates. The number of overweight children, adolescents, and adults has risen over the past four decades. Health care programs, by recognizing opportunities to improve communication, assigning resources and measure, expanding and reporting health-literacy activities, can succeed in improving the general population's health and quality of life.
