Abstract

The relationship between the levels of serum acute phase reactant proteins (α1-acid glycoprotein, α1-antitrypsin, haptoglobin) was investigated in patients with glioblastoma multiforme in relation to their prognosis. α1-acid glycoprotein was higher in the patients who died within one year afteradmission than in those with a longer survival time. It is suggested that serum α1-acid glycoprotein profiles provide prognostic information in patients withglioblastoma multiforme.
