Objective. To study the association of food insecurity with changes in diet perceived during lockdown by Covid-19 in Mexico. Materials and methods. The level of food insecurity was identified using the Latin American and Caribbean Scale of Food Security in 9 933 households of the 2020 National Health and Nutrition Survey Covid-19. Changes in the food group consumption were classified in negative or positive changes, or unchanged during lockdown. The association of changes in diet with the level of food insecurity was analyzed with multinomial models adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics of the household. Results. Households that reported reduced spending on food and with severe food insecurity showed a greater probability of having negative changes (0.43, 95%CI: 0.40-0.46). Conclusions. Severe food insecurity is associate with negative food changes during lockdown by Covid-19, in households with reduced spending on food in Mexico.
