Abstract

The article discusses the concept of legislative abdication in relation to America's copyright and social media laws, and it mentions the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act the the efforts to prevent online copyright infringement. U.S. statutes and trade agreements are mentioned, along with the laws which apply to Internet service providers (ISPs) and online social networks. The relationship between law and technology is assessed, as well as safe harbor provisions and legal damages.
