Abstract
A state of knowledge of nowadays Forensic Anthropology in Portugal is done by means of its contextualization within the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and its relation with other forensic sciences. Teaching, research on Forensic Anthropology and the publications that had been done during the last decade are commented. The type, frequency and profile of forensic anthropology cases in Portugal are discussed. Two cases are briefly presented in order to illustrate the procedures and methodologies adopted in our country.
