Abstract
Nearly 40 years after hepatocyte transplantation was first used to treat an enzyme deficiency in animal studies, the potential therapeutic use of the hepatic cells still hasn't been fully realized. This month, “The AJT Report” takes a look at current efforts under way, along with the challenges researchers face. We also review new data on declining donor liver quality.
