Abstract

Crush syndrome is a disease that may lead to the death of many people if there is no early and proper intervention in wars and natural disasters such as earthquakes. The trauma resulting from compression imposes a functional load on the metabolism causing the destruction of cells, and this load may reach levels that cannot be tolerated by the body. In these patients, the intervention must be started while the patient is still at the scene and the treatment should be initiated by considering all foreseeable risks. It should not be forgotten that rhabdomyolysis, compartment syndrome, acute renal failure, cardiac and pulmonary side effects, sepsis and shock may occur.
