Culture of peace in the midst of growing Peruvian social violence

Abstract

Violence is a sensitive issue for any country, and Peru is no stranger to this, characterized by marked social inequality. This article aims to determine the importance of promoting and creating a culture of peace to strengthen social cohesion, the eradication of violence and thus sustain Democracy, Security and National Development. The research method of this work is qualitative based on the information obtained by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), on the phenomenon of crime and violence, through the Technical Report “Crime Statistics, Citizen Security and Violence.” from the year 2022”. Crime statistics reveal that the country is in constant citizen insecurity, due to the increase in crimes against property, against life, body and health, against public safety, freedom and others, all of which is reflected in the numerous complaints registered with the authorities. Therefore, it is concluded that it is very important to promote the Culture of Peace in our country since it serves as an instrument to prevent future crimes and, above all, guarantee that conflicts that arise from human relationships are resolved in a non-violent way, based on the traditional values of peace that are so lacking in our society.
