Abstract

In a clinical trial of difetarsone, cure was obtained in 20 of 30 children with T. trichiura infections. There was a substantial reduction in egg output in 8 of the remaining 10 cases, and a satisfactory result is claimed in 93% of patients. In those with symptoms, the response was excellent. The drug appears safe and well tolerated. Difetarsone is of value in trichuriasis, a condition for which in the past treatment has been unsatisfactory.
