Abstract

The objective of this research is to establish the relationship between the number and sales of big businesses and per capita economic growth for a selection of Latin American countries in the period 1996-2016. Using the database of big businesses prepared by América Economía magazine, and with a longitudinal data analysis methodology, it is found that there is a positive link between the performance of big businesses and economic growth in the economies of the region. This finding implies the need to establish conditions that allow the proper development of this type of economic organization.
