Abstract

In order to accurately and quickly determine the fault location after high voltage direct current (HVDC) system DC differential protection action, this paper takes rectifier as the object, analyzing 5 ground faults in the converter area with the responsible action of the DC differential protection, and analyzing 3 faults outside the converter that can make the DC differential protection malfunction. It also excludes the influence of protection and control on fault electrical information, designing the classification criteria of faults by utilizing the data of the fault electrical feature before mutation. Fault location scheme based on the DC differential protection action is proposed. And simulation data based on CIGRE HVDC benchmark model verifies feasibility of the fault location scheme.
