Abstract

Blood is stored and managed in blood banks to used later in blood transfusions and blood donation is a noble deed which saves millions life, both in regular and emergency conditions. But current manual and scattered system has many issues, not safe and efficient. Centralized blood banks are a solution for most of the issues faced in current blood bank management system and IOT has played a major important role in this field. Cloud based CBBMS has strengthened whole blood supply chain and patient safety. There are many applications and web-based platforms available that utilize cloud technology and internet, and are easy to use and manage. some of the online CBBMS apps are reviewed that are available in India and application of IOT in CBBMS at broader scale to improve the functioning of current apps, utilizing IOT to educate and create awareness among community about blood donation. Also, there should be applied a single nationwide internet-based application to connect all the donors, patients, government and NGO run blood banks, to strengthen overall blood supply chain efficiently and safely. Few of the solutions have also been proposed at the end for preventing blood waste and encouraging blood donation.
