Abstract
Social or community enterprises are part of the popular economy oriented towards the satisfaction of the needs of the community rather than profit. Social entrepreneurship in the world has helped to improve employment and even the growth of nations. This article analyzes the relevance of socialentrepreneurship in Ecuador, its strengths, and its weaknesses. The document review method is used to provide state-of-the-art and question knowledge. In Ecuador, there is a legal framework and an enabling public policy. In addition, there has been a good figure for the country in the last decade, in relation to international measurements of the Entrepreneurship climate and the rate of entrepreneurial activity. The COVID-19 pandemic, the country's economic difficulties, and policy constraints, especially in the area of financing, have been obstacles to the growth of entrepreneurship.
