Abstract

VitaminKis a fat-soluble vitamin important in both blood clotting and bone metabolism. It seems that lower intakes of vitamin K are related to knee osteoarthritis. In addition, it seems that a low vitamin K intake may relate to a high bone turnover in athletes. More research needs to be conducted in larger populations, evaluating the effects of vitamin K supplementation on knee osteoarthritis as well as bone turnover in various athletes.
