New possibilities

Abstract

Fiber and yarn producers are focusing on innovations and improved performance to tempt consumers. Developments include fibers made from corn, polyester fibers that utilize a new chemistry and give improved dyeability, antimicrobial fibers that use silver, and fibers designed for improved stretch or a more natural hand. The article briefly discusses some of these innovative products, which have been developed by companies such as Cargill Dow, Wellman, Unifi, KoSa, and DuPont.
