Abstract

In this study, the effect of additional heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the titanium Ti-6Al-4V alloy produced by the method of electron beam melting was studied. It has been established that additional heat treatment of samples allows reducing the friction coefficient and decreasing internal stresses in the material. At the same time, a decrease in microhardness, as well as the strength and plastic characteristics of EBM Ti-6Al-4V alloy, is observed. Simultaneously, heat treatment leads to a reduction in the rate of hydrogen accumulation by EBM Ti-6Al-4V alloy during saturation from a gaseous medium.
