Abstract

A novel approach for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydro-1H-1,5-benzodiazepines from o-phenylenediamines and structurally divergent ketones is described using zinc montmorillonite as catalyst at room temperature. The catalyst can be reused for at least three cycles with consistent activity. ©ARKAT.
