Abstract

This review article focused on the sport and its relationship with subjective welfare and social integration of immigrants, seeking to survey the information available in the literature about this topic to a more global level and particularly in Portugal, which from the 80's became a country of immigration. The search included books, journal articles surveyed in international databases, specialized sites and institutional. The literature review showed that: immigrants tend to practice less sport as well as having lower levels of subjective welfare compared to the native population; sport is positively related to subjective welfare also in immigrants, the sport can play an important role for the social integration of immigrants, although in some contexts can reinforce the inter-ethnic differences and in Portugal, there weren't found specific studies on the sportive practice of immigrants.
