Abstract
Under the "Action plan for air quality", ministers of transports and ecology have entrusted an assessment to the Interministerial Coordination for the Development of Bike Use (CIDUV) about commuting by bike. In this context, a study was conducted to assess the benefits and health risks of cycling in commuting, whether individual or collective (health effects of physical activity, accident rates, exposure to pollution, reduction of greenhouse gas⋯). Several scenarios were suggested by the Interministerial Coordination. The results of this component "health" of the study show that developing a policy in favor of commuting by bike produces health benefits. Whatever the scenario is, they are beneficial in terms of mortality, morbidity, environmental externalities and overall economic performance.
