Abstract
Explants were excised from 3 different regions of active growing floral stem of tulip, and were cultured in vitro on MS medium with growth regulators. Adventitious bud formation was highest in the median region. Buds formed bulblets if a cold (5°C) then a warm (20°C) period were applied. Bulblet production was promoted by a 3 months cold treatment when compared to 1 or month treatment. Histological observations indicated that the neoformed bulblets appeared to be fonctional for further development in soil. © Société botanique de France 1995.
