Abstract

This work investigates the state actions directed to the urban-regional structuring of Brasília and the Federal District that were articulated with the national planning proposals for economic and social development between the 1960s and 1980s. The main thrust of the analysis is the study of two actions formulated for Brasília in the field of spatial, regional and urban planning: the "Fundo de Desenvolvimento do Distrito Federal" (Development Fund for the Federal District) in 1966 and the "Programa Especial da Região Geoeconômica de Brasília" (Special Program for Brasília's Geoeconomic Region) of 1975. The article will observe the relation between these, insofar as they can be understood as actions in the fields of urban and regional planning for the region of the Brazilian Federal District, and the discussions in the federal government and its proposals for national planning.
