Abstract

Lasers and intense light sources have made it possible to treat many diseases in dermatology. They also may be applied in aesthetic dermatology. These recommendations contain a summary of basic concepts, information on physical parameters and types of lasers used in modern dermatology. Part 1 of recommendations concerns the use of CO2, erbium:YAG lasers in dermatosurgery. Taken into consideration the wide use of CO2 lasers in dermatology, these lasers may be considered a basic therapeutic tool for every dermatologist.
