Abstract

The impact of various products and waste materials generated during the utilization of the major solid, liquid and gaseous energy resources on the ecological balance and their contribution to environmental degradation are discussed in a broad context. The work done on the solution of problems associated with the generation, storage, collection, transportation and processing of various types of fuels and disposal of wastes is reviewed. The need for working out suitable control technologies based on scientific and engineering data is stressed. The adoption of an integrated approach to the problems of energy and environment is suggested.
