Abstract
Aquatic beetles have great potential for use as bioindicators in water quality, apart from playing an important role in the trophic chains of aquatic bodies, which makes it important to know their diversity. With the objective of knowing aquatic coleopterofauna of the Peruvian region of Cusco, collections were made in different provinces of the mentioned region; as a result of these surveys 18 species were identified within 13 genera distributed in five families: Dytiscidae, Hydrophilidae, Gyrinidae, Dryopidae and Elmidae; the distribution of the different families covers 12 provinces, of 13 existing in the region, in an altitudinal range that includes between 550 and 4400 meters above sea level.
