Abstract

Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NEAMS) program, the MOOSE framework has been enhanced with open-source functionality to mesh common reactor geometries and improve user workflows for MOOSE-based nuclear reactor applications. This intrinsic meshing functionality is primarily contained within MOOSE’s Reactor Module. Since its inception, considerable efforts have been made to improve, enhance, and expand MOOSE’s underlying meshing capabilities, particularly for reactor-related geometries. This paper reports a series of major updates to the meshing capabilities of both the MOOSE Reactor and the MOOSE framework’s MeshGenerator System, along with some latest application examples Module in meshing various nuclear reactors.
