Abstract

The volume is the first comprehensive analysis by experts from throughout the Americas of the Economic and political issues involved in a Western Hemisphere Free Trade Agreement. The Premise and The Promise examines the rationale, feasibility, and implications of establishing free trade areas, and makes recommendations regarding the best approach for liberalizing trade in the hemisphere. There are 10 chapters grouped under two headings: a Western Hemisphere Free Trade Area and sub-regional trade agreements. A further chapter presents summaries of recommendations made by the authors in the individual chapters. All 11 chapters are abstracted separately. -after Authors
