Abstract
Cassava is a plant adapted to various soil and climatic conditions, however, productivity is largely determined by the availability of nutrients in the soil, especially potassium (K). In which mineral deposits of sulfides and chlorides K are scarce in Brazil, studies have been conducted to verify the agronomic efficiency of the use of stonemeal in many different crops and regions. This study evaluated the effects of a soil remineralizing obtained mining waste on the productivity of two varieties of industrial cassava. The experiment with range in design involved two varieties (Sutinga and IAC-12), six treatments and three replications. The treatments involved different soil remineralizing using strategies: complement to conventional sources of nutrients; replacing such sources; and increasing doses. In the evaluations were considered the factors: shoot production; production of tuberous root; harvest index; dry matter content and starch in the roots. The results obtained allow to affirm that the estimated soil remineralizing provides an alternative source of potassium for the culture of cassava, and likewise, has effects as a soil conditioner since they potentiate the effect of conventional nutrient sources.
