Abstract

The authors offer analyses and several concrete proposals on strategies that aim to reduce poverty and protect the environment in Central America. The study details five key challenges in the region: cross-border environmental problems; efforts to promote sustainable development; reconciling resource conservation with multiple human uses of tropical lands; equity and ecological consequences of agricultural export strategies; and taxation and inequitable land distribution. Papers are abstracted separately. -Publisher
