A note on the use of floating point in critical systems

Abstract

Floating Point is a well tried technology which, it might seem, can be used without reservation. Unfortunately, there are dangers which arise from faults in implementation and incorrect use. These are often hard to locate. The present paper addresses these dangers. © 1992 The British Computer Society.
