Abstract

Low-lying T = 0 levels of 16O are described by a microscopic 12C + cluster-coupling model, in which the states (0+, 2+, 4+) of the ground band of 12C are coupled with the relative motion between 12C and . The equation for the relative motion between the two clusters is solved by taking into account the Pauli principle. Calculated energy spectra are in good agreement with experiment. The mysterious zero plus state is successfully understood by the present model. A characteristic feature of the wave functions shows up in the weak coupling of the spin of 12C and the relative orbital angular momentum. Some predictions are made on the basis of the calculated results.
