Gereja dan krisis kebebasan beragama di Indonesia

Abstract

This paper discusses the crisis of religious freedom that has occurred during the last decade in Indonesia. The main focus of the study is focused on the factors causing the crisis of religious freedom and the participation of the church to recover from the crisis. The data and information are sourced from books, journals, articles, print media, and research reports on religious freedom by the SETARA Institute, The Wahid Institute, and the National Commission of Human Rights. The postcolonial theological perspective is used for the analysis and interpretation of data and information. This data points to four themes: the culture of traditional conflict, neglect by the state, the rise of Islam, and the indifference of the churches in Indonesia. These themes will be useful for understanding the role and function of the church in interpreting identity and relations in the midst of a crisis and building transformative ideas of religious freedom in Indonesia. AbstrakTulisan ini membahas tentang krisis kebebasan beragama yang terjadi selama satu dekade terakhir ini di Indonesia. Fokus utama kajian terarah pada faktor-faktor terjadinya krisis kebebasan beragama dan partisipasi gereja bagi pemulihan krisis tersebut. Data-data dan informasi bersumber dari buku, jurnal, artikel, media cetak, dan laporan penelitian kebebasan beragama oleh lembaga SETARA Institute, The Wahid Institute, dan Komnas HAM. Perspektif teologi poskolonialisme digunakan untuk analisis dan interpretasi data dan informasi. Data ini mengarah pada empat tema: budaya konflik tradisional, pembiaran oleh negara, kebangkitan Islam, dan ketidakpedulian gereja-gereja di Indonesia. Tema-tema tersebut akan bermanfaat untuk memahami peran dan fungsi gereja dalam memaknai identitas dan relasi ditengah krisis dan membangun gagasan kebebasan beragama yang transformatif di Indonesia.
