Abstract

A new two-dimensional (2D) polymer, [Cu(pmt)(dca)]n [pmt = 2-(2-pyridymethylamino)ethanesulfonate, dca = dicyanamide] (1), was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements. X-ray structure analysis revealed that the compound contains [Cu(μ1,5-dca)]n chains, which are further connected by bridging sulfonate anions of pmt ligands to result in (4,4)-connected 2D sheets. The magnetic susceptibilities (2-300 K) of 1 were investigated, and indicated that the complex exhibits a weak ferromagnetic interaction between the copper(II) ions. © 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
