Studi Grounded Theory tentang Dinamika Pilihan Karier Siswa SMA dan Sikap Orang Tua di Era Digital

Abstract

This study aims to develop a substantive theory regarding the dynamics of high school students' career choices and the role of parents in supporting this process within the digital era. Employing a Qualitative Grounded Theory approach, data were systematically collected through in-depth interviews involving 15 student-parent pairs. Data analysis utilized open, axial, and selective coding to establish theoretical linkages. The core findings indicate that students' career choices are shaped by three interactive factors: personal interests driven by passion, a democratic parenting style, and continuous exposure to digital media. Digital entertainment content, such as drama series, exerts a significant emotional impact on shaping students' career perceptions and aspirations, while parents effectively function as adaptive facilitators who provide autonomy support. In conclusion, the derived substantive theory affirms that students' careers are constructed through personal narratives mediated by social interactions and digital influences, thereby extending the practical applicability of Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) and Career Construction Theory (CCT) within contemporary cultural contexts
