Abstract

The aim of this research is to know at what extent motivation in students, is higher or lower when we carry out a work by competencies based in a project or with a traditional methodology. The design of our research was quasiexperimental. The sample was 37 pupils distributed into two groups of Primary Education. 2A was applied two tasks based on proyect work and 2B two didactic units without adaptatation, and in both groups we develop the same activities. The data were collected through a questionnaire previously validated to students. We used a descriptive analyse, a gaining analyse and an inferential analyse (Wilcoxon, Índice de Kappa, U de Mann- Whitney y Chi-cuadrado). The results showed a slight improvement in the motivation of the pupils when working with a competence based methodology compared to the pupils working in a traditional way. We find significant differences in the variables of enjoining during the class and learning new games. In conclusion, we can say that the results support the application of this kind of work within the field of Physical Education.
